Purple Heart (Peltogyne spp) grows between Mexico and Brazil.

The tree reaches a maximum height of 38 to 45 mt with a diameter of approx. 0.6 to 1.2mt. Weight ranges in the 860kg/mt3 region.

Purple heart is a very stiff and stable wood, especially in the internal part of the tree, and
it's even grain makes it suitable for neck laminations on neck through body basses and occasionally for bass top plates.

Just cut, it's kind of brownish, while after a few days, after oxidation takes place, it changes into a wonderful red/violet colour.
